UW-Madison graduate Maimoona Bowcock received $450,000 in lottery winnings Tuesday as part of a record $365 million Powerball prize.
Bowcock was one of two Wisconsin winners, the other winning ticket having been bought in Appleton.
Initially, Bowcock's prize was approximately $667,000, but she had to give up 32 percent of the money to taxes.
According to the Wisconsin Lottery, the odds of winning a prize through the lottery are one in 10, though the odds of winning a Powerball prize are much smaller.
Bowcock correctly picked the first five numbers of the Powerball drawing but did not pick the sixth 'Powerball' number, which would have brought her winnings closer to the record $200 million jackpot.
There were 40 winners nationally for the Feb. 18 Powerball drawing. The jackpot was the largest in U.S. lottery history.
