UW frosh charged with felony battery

A UW-Madison freshman faces felony charges for his role in a fight at Ed's Express earlier this month. 

 

Graham Piper, an Ogg resident, is charged with felony substantial battery after breaking the nose of Vincent Morello in a fist fight Saturday, March 4.According to Assistant District Attorney, Mike Verveer, Piper was drunk at the time of the fight. Verveer said Piper had refused to take his feet off a table in Ed's Express several times when Morello knocked him off a chair while trying to forcibly remove his feet.Verveer said that after falling over Piper attacked Morello, breaking his nose. He spent two nights in jail after the fight and will likely be expelled from UW housing, Verveer said.
