State Rep. Scott Suder, R-Abbotsford, proposed a change that would alter the UW Board of Regents from a governor appointed board to a committee of elected officials Tuesday.
'The time has come to reconnect the UW Board of Regents with the taxpayers that built our University System and pay the bills,' Suder said in a press statement.
During the Friday Board of Regents meeting, the board voted to decrease out-of-state tuition, and increase costs for the Wisconsin students. They also voted to increase salary ranges for their top administrators.
Under this new plan, Chancellor John Wiley's salary will likely be raised to $342,000, increasing his current salary by more than $35,000..
Suder said these actions illustrate the disparity between the Board of Regents and middle-class Wisconsin families.
'The UW seems to have forgotten that the 'W' stands for Wisconsin,' Suder said.
