Bret Bielema will make his head coaching debut when Wisconsin opens the 2006 season against Bowling Green at Cleveland Browns Stadium Sept. 2, according to a UW release Thursday disclosing the football schedule through 2010.
Fourteen different schools from seven conferences form the list of non-conference opponents over the next five seasons, including matchups with three schools Wisconsin has never faced.
'These schedules are great for our fans because they will be seeing us play against quality programs,' Bielema said in the release. 'We'll have most of these non-conference games at home and when we play on the road our fans will have some great travel destinations. I'm happy with the schedules we have put together.'
Beyond 2010, the Badgers are scheduled to play at UNLV and home against Oregon State in 2011; home against San Diego State and at Arizona State in 2012; at Oregon State in 2013; at Washington State in 2014; and home against Washington State in 2015.
The Badgers continue discussions with Virginia Tech to move an originally scheduled 2008-'09 series to a later date.
'We're very pleased overall with the scheduling we have been able to do,' Associate Athletic Director John Chadima said. 'It gives our fans another chance to see our team and to experience the wonderful gameday atmosphere at Camp Randall Stadium.'
