An official from the University of North Carolina was named dean of the UW-Madison School of Medicine and Public Health, according to a university statement.
Robert Golden, currently the vice dean at the UNC School of Medicine, will fill the position formerly held by Phillip Farrell, who said he would resign last year.
In addition, Golden's wife, Shannon Kenney, will take up a position as a resident virologist in the School of Medicine and Public Health.

Golden's background includes a stint as the chair of the UNC Department of Psychiatry.
