The Silver Dollar was one of the first Madison bars to apply for a liquor license when prohibition was repealed in 1933. To its credit, not a lot seems to have changed at the Dollar in the past 72 years. The Silver Dollar is traditional, authentic and utterly unpretentious. Wood paneling, vintage domestic beer signs and assorted bar games give the Dollar an inviting atmosphere that attracts a varied crowd.
Table shuffleboard'in which pucks are slid across a slick table' provides a fun and unique bonding experience for patrons. The Dollar also provides darts and a pool table.
The Silver Dollar's bartenders boast that they have the best jukebox in town, and the music selection ranges from Van Halen and Tom Petty to Jimi Hendrix and Garbage.
