Men’s soccer announces new signees

After a season full of heartbreaking losses for the UW men's soccer team last fall, head coach Jeff Rohrman announced seven new signees that will hopefully help the Badgers move forward.

'I think this class will make us deeper and make us stronger,' Rohrman announced yesterday.

Forward/midfielder Matthew Arcangeli out of Vicksburg High School in Kalamazoo, Mich., was a member of the 2005 all-state Dream Team and led his team in scoring and assists along with being named the team MVP his junior and senior seasons.

Another forward/midfielder is Pablo Delgado out of Madrid, Spain. Delgado was a member of the 1998 national champion San Augustin school team. In 2000, Delgado played in the national league for Alcobendas. He also played in the national Spanish club championship and Valencia regional tournament for Villareal C.F.

Committing to play as a true forward next fall for UW is Brian Bultman. Bultman is from Catalina Foothills High School in Tucson, Ariz. Along with being named all-state first team in division 4A, he is also one of two players to be listed in School Sports Magazine's 'Prime Time' players in Arizona. During his junior season, Bultman netted a school record 38 goals to go along with 10 assists.

Another player that will hopefully make an impact as a true forward is Brandon Miller. Miller led Totino Grace High School in Vadnais Heights, Minnesota to the Class A state championship as a freshman. Miller was also leading scorer in the state tournament and named to the all-tournament team the same year. He repeated the same feat his junior season.

Midfielder Jon Rzepka was named first team all-state and Dream Team member as a senior. Rzepka, out of East Kentwood High School, in Kentwood, Mich., also finished third runner-up for Michigan's Mr. Soccer his senior year, and was a two-time all-conference selection.

Taylor Waspi, a midfielder/defender, was named to the 2003 all-conference, and all-sectional teams. Out of Lake Zurich High School in Deer Park, Ill., Waspi was also named to the 2004 all-area and all-state second teams. Waspi did not play in 2005 due to an injury.

Rounding out this year's class is goalkeeper Ryan Vint from Wayzata High School in Plymouth, Minn. During his senior season, Vint posted a remarkable 20-1-1 record while only allowing 0.23 goals per game. He also had 18 shutouts. Due to his great play, Vint was named to the 2005 all-state and regional all-American, as well as being named Minnesota Adidas Player of the Year.
