Former Wisconsin football assistant coach John Palermo, who departed after the season, following the retirement of head coach Barry Alvarez, signed on with the University of Miami to be in charge of the defensive line.
Palermo spent 15 seasons under Alvarez, helping the coach win three Rose Bowls. Palermo coached linebackers, the defensive line and the offensive line in his time at UW.
'We are very fortunate to be able to attract an outstanding defensive line coach such as John Palermo,' Miami head coach Larry Coker said.
Palermo coached eight lineman who were selected in the NFL draft.
'I've had a lot invested in this program the last 15 years,' Palermo told The Daily Cardinal when he announced his resignation in November. 'I often said when Barry stepped down, I probably will too.'
John's son, Jason, an offensive lineman for the Badgers will graduate in the spring after four years on the team.
