The suspension of Bobby Lockhart, a member of both the UW men's cross county and track and field teams, was overturned as Chair of the Appeals Committee Walter Dickey announced the decision Tuesday.
The UW-Madison senior allegedly threw an object at a 21-year-old woman during a fight that occurred Nov. 23. The object allegedly broke and the woman required stitches.
Lockhart was suspended from both athletic teams Nov. 23 for violating the University of Wisconsin's Student-Athlete Discipline Policy, according to UW Athletic Communications.
The University's Appeals Committee changed the suspension, however, allowing Lockhart to practice and compete again immediately.
Had Lockhart decided not to appeal the Nov. 23 decision, the suspension would have remained intact until the matter was resolved in Dane County Circuit Court.
Lockhart, 22, made the second-team All-Big Ten in cross country in 2002 and 2003, as well as being named a 2004 NCAA outdoor All-American.
