Madison nightlife will soon see some new spice. Brothers Martin and Javier Palacios are working very hard to get Palace Latin Club, their dance club and sports bar, ready for its Feb. 9 opening.
Palace, which is in the former Luther's Blues space, will be a hotspot for weekend dancing.
'There will be free salsa lessons on every Saturday night for two hours,' Martin said, 'and possibly more, depending on the response.'
The menu is simple bar fare, but the margaritas, Martin assures, will be the best in town.
The planning for Palace comes from the brothers' experience in the food industry. After running a bar in Mexico City, both chose to come to the United States.
'We came here to have fun. Madison is a beautiful city,' Martin said. However, the transition was not an easy one.
'We didn't know a lot of English,' he said. 'Coming here was a challenge, but we did it.'
As opening night draws closer, the club is getting its final touches. The brightly colored walls and beautiful wood floors mirror the excitement Martin has in his voice for the future.
'We are living the American dream.'
