If you have an older sibling who attended UW-Madison and swears by something called the Melting Pot hamburger, chances are you have heard about Dotty Dumpling's Dowry, 317 N. Frances St.
UW-Madison sophomore Gwen Pennington has worked as a hostess and server at Dotty Dumpling's Dowry for the past three months. Besides their Melting Pot hamburger, Pennington recommends the Portabella Mushroom sandwich.
Her favorite part of the job is the people, who create a party-like atmosphere every time she works, Pennington said.
Dotty Dumpling's Dowry's good reputation and emphasis on the Madison area make the restaurant unique, and game days especially create a fun atmosphere, Pennington said.
The restaurant's unique name comes from a character in a Sir Arthur Conan Doyle short story named Dotty Dumpling. Owner Jeff Stanley added the word 'dowry,' and the rest is restaurant history.
