Women's basketball
Despite a double-double perfromance from sophomore guard Jolene Anderson and a season-best 20 points from senior guard Ashley Josephson, the Wisconsin women's basketball team (4-5) suffered a 90-87 double-overtime loss against Kansas Sunday.
'The things we addressed in practice following the loss to South Dakota State were demonstrated today,' UW head coach Lisa Stone said. 'The kids played hard. Jolene was our go-to person today and she converted. Both teams battled.'
The Badgers squandered a 18 point first half lead in their double-overtime loss in the history of the program.
Wrestling
The No. 11 Wisconsin wrestling team was defeated at home against Northern Illinois 18-17 Sunday afternoon.
NIU trailed 12-17 going into the final match, but scored a second period pin to secure the victory.
'Going into the match we knew there would be a lot of tight match-ups. We got some big wins at 197 and 149, but Northern Illinois hung around,' said head coach Barry Davis. 'They got some wins at 125 lbs. and 165 lbs. that kept them in the match. At the end we just came up short.'
Wisconsin suffered its first loss of the dual season and fell to 3-1, while NIU improved to 1-1.
Women's hockey
The No. 4 Wisconsin women's hockey team scored an upset road victory over top-ranked Minnesota Duluth Saturday night, improving their record to 15-2-1 overall and 12-1-1 in WCHA play.
