Junior running back Brian Calhoun and senior wide receiver Brandon Williams were named to the 2005 AP All-America second team. Calhoun was named as a running back, along with Memphis' senior DeAngelo Williams. Brandon Williams was not named as a wide receiver, but as an all-purpose player. Junior Maurice Drew was named as the all-purpose player for the first team.
The receivers on the second team were Notre Dame junior Jeff Samardzija and Georgia Tech sophomore Calvin Johnson. Texas junior Vince Young beat out USC senior Matt Leinart for the quarterback position on the first team.
