Smooth. Like an Italian man seducing American women on vacation, this beer may have more appeal to Americans seeking an exotic European brew than to a real wine-loving Italian.
On the other hand, this beer's crisp flavor and light consistency suggest a wide appeal. Even the most hardened lover of dark brews would have to admit the obvious appeal of this well-established product of Rome. At the same time, the highly accessible flavor could appeal to those unschooled in the art of high-class beer consumption.
While often denigrated as the 'Bud Light' of Italy, this beer deserves credit for wide popularity in a nation dominated by the consumption of wine. We hope that Americans will give this anomaly from the Mediterranean a chance, it's worth it.
