The one-stop thrift shop guide

Considered a high-end vintage store, Aura definitely has something for everyone of every style. Merchandise in the store is hand-picked by the owner with a large inventory of chic clothes and accessories from different time periods. Here men can find suits, ties and collared shirts and women can find nice cardigans, sweaters, jackets, accessories and high-fashion items, all without the designer pricetag.

St. Vincent de Paul's (Vinny's) resale thrift shop is like a giant tag sale, with rooms packed full of different types and styles of clothing, but you can also find jewelry, shoes, furniture, art, books, electronics and vinyl just to name a few. Here you can find reasonably priced vintage gear. Plan for a much longer excursion than what you may anticipate with a few extra dollars in your pocket just in case you make some impulsive purchases.

If you are feeling like an expert thrift shopper, skip Vinny's and go directly to Dig & Save, which is the Vinny's outlet. Here clothes are not measured in quality, but in quantity since each pound of clothing costs merely one dollar. Grab anything and everything that may tickle your fancy, but you will surely do much searching. Shop there on Wednesdays and get half-off your pounds. If you were not so lucky with clothes, perhaps you will find a nice book to read, furniture, a bike or even some old-school electronic equipment.

\What's the name of that store"" many ask. Remember it, as it is a hidden gem off the beaten path next door to Amy's Caf??. Packed with many nostalgic items, old vinyls and vintage band t-shirts this shop is a delight, including a variety of clothes and revamped items sewn into skirts, purses and shirts.

Here you can also bring in old shirts and have them create a new skirt to your liking.

While the outside is unmarked, you are sure to see clothes hanging on racks outside Johnson St., inviting customers inside. Walk in and find anything from everyday wear to costumes to vintage Badger wear.

While this store may be a bit intimidating with so much to look through, don't fret for you will surely stumble upon something fitting for that themed party or that unique piece or accessory to add to your wardrobe.
