Women's Hockey
Junior forward Sara Bauer, UW's assistant captain, was named the WCHA preseason player of the year.
Entering her third season with the Badgers, she is on pace to become the school's all-time leading scorer.
Last season, she was selected to the All-WCHA second team and was selected to join the Canadian U-22 squad this year. After her freshman year, Bauer was named conference rookie of the year.
Swimming and Diving
Both the men's and women's seasons start Friday at the Natatorium, when UW-Green Bay ventures to Madison. Both the men and women took down UW-Green Bay last year.
Last season, the women's swimming and diving team finished in third place at the Big Ten championships and 11th on the national level. The men's team finished seventh in the Big Ten tournament and 19th overall in the country.
