Kegs for a cause

\$5 a cup for Katrina victims,"" is becoming a common phrase on Madison's more heavily-partied streets. If the collected beer money is going to the victims of the numerous natural disasters that UW-Madison students have manned up and partied for, then this trend gets two plastic cups up.

This classy way to enjoy cheap beer parallels the benefits of the affluent who spend thousands of dollars per plate to help find cures for various forms of cancer, AIDS and the church of scientology. However, if using Katrina is a clever ploy by party entrepreneurs to pay for a gambling addiction on the dime of the sympathetic, then keep your Natty Ice and throw a party to raise money to buy yourself a soul.
