Mayor Dave Cieslewicz sent a memorandum to the 11 Madison alders Friday saying he will not heed their suggestion to bill Associated Students of Madison an itemized bill for the costs of Saturday's Mifflin Street Block Party.
The memo comes after Ald. Zach Brandon, Dist. 7, authored a letter urging Cieslewicz to take such action in light of the change in date from May 7 to April 30.
\I have consulted the City Attorney, and we are aware of no recognized legal theory under which ASM would be liable to the city for the costs of the April 30 event,"" the mayor wrote in the letter.
