Dear Chancellor Wiley:
Please be advised that I fully intend to withhold any future alumnus contributions (and will encourage others to do so as well) if you permit professor John Webster to conduct the planned U.S. Government Taser weapons experiments on live pigs this spring.
This type of experimentation is redundant, unnecessary, unenlightened and cruel-definitely not worthy of the UW name and reputation. I am ashamed of my school's planned participation in this hideous program.
I kindly request that you encourage Professor Webster to halt these live animal experiments. Ideally, no creature with a fully developed central nervous system should have to be exposed to such pain, fear and torture.
Also, I request that you return the U.S. Department of Justice \super-Taser"" Research Grant of $500,000. It is just not right to accept this funding.
Chancellor, it is fully in your power to end the unseen and unspoken suffering that occurs in the dark, anonymous and lonely cages of our science labs.
