Power out on much of campus, State Street

Most of campus and most of the State Street area lost power for approximately 1.5 hours Monday afternoon. 

 

 

 

Madison Gas & Electric personnel attended to an underground fire on the corner of Henry and State Street. 

 

 

 

Lori Worth of the Madison Police Department said the fire was believed to be electrical in nature. There were no injuries, but smoke from the fire entered surrounding buildings, she said. 

 

 

 

Responsibility for solving the problems will fall to MG&E, the police department said.
