Congressional candidate Dave Magnum objected Tuesday to the accusation he \skipped"" Saturday's debate with U.S. Rep. Tammy Baldwin, D-Madison, saying his campaign was never properly informed.
""With that claim, Tammy Baldwin is being disingenuous at best,"" Magnum said in a statement. ""I will debate Tammy Baldwin anytime, anywhere, but ... we need proper notification first.""
However, Magnum received notice of his scheduled appearance in a letter dated July 23 informing him of both his appearance at the primary election show as well as Saturday's debate, according to Joe Schraven, producer of the debate segments ""Know Your Candidate"" on the Madison City Channel.
""It is literally impossible he did not receive this letter,"" Schraven said in a statement. ""What was most likely a simple scheduling oversight by the Magnum campaign has now been used for political slander.""
U.S. Rep. Tammy Baldwin, D-Madison, in an effort to bolster student participation in the upcoming elections, is holding a ""Win Pizza with Tammy!"" contest for students living in residence halls or Greek houses, according to a statement.
To enter, students must submit a list of the ""Top 10 Reasons Why Tammy Baldwin Should Visit My Res Hall Room.""
Baldwin will join the winner and his or her friends to eat pizza and discuss campaign issues concerning students.
Submissions may be e-mailed to students@tammybaldwin.com or dropped off at Baldwin's UW-Madison campus office at Laundry 101, 437 W. Gilman St.
