Duke University decided not to renew a contract with Lands' End this week over concerns about an El Salvadoran factory, according to The Capital Times.
Jim Wilkerson, Duke's director of trademark licensing and stores operations, said it \appears likely"" that Lands' End has blacklisted workers with union ties.
The allegations concern the Primo S.A. de C.V. factory in El Salvador, which garment maker and union member Maria Deysi Hernandez told a UW-Madison audience Jan. 29 refused her employment.
UW-Madison's Labor Licensing Policy Committee recommended UW also apply pressure to the company to change its practices.
A Lands' End spokesperson said the company was working with the Fair Labor Association to resolve the situation.
