The No. 6 Wisconsin men's hockey team (9-4-5 Western Conference Hockey Association, 15-7-6 overall) traveled to Colorado Springs, Colo. this past weekend only to split a pair with the Colorado College Tigers (5-9-2, 12-9-3).
The weekend started bleak for the UW men when the Tigers drew first blood Friday with a goal from sophomore defenseman and Middleton native Brady Greco as he capitalized on the second power play in the first 10 minutes of the game. The Tigers entered the game scoring on only one of their last 25 power plays, but the second opportunity the Badgers gave them allowed Greco to rifle a centering pass over the glove of Wisconsin's junior goaltender Bernd Br??ckler.
Br??ckler maintained his composure to slide, dive and roll to block 35 of the 37 shots from CC sticks and lead the defense to three strong periods of play. Combined with an aggressive defense, the Badgers pulled off a three-goal third period to win 4-2 Friday, even though the Tigers outshot UW 37 to 18 and UW's offense struggled to complete passes the entire contest.
