This letter is in response to Eric Kleefeld and his article titled \A new model for America"" (11/13/03).
Eric, I understand your admiration for Dean's successful fundraising. But does it really not matter to you that he completely went back on is word? In March he stated that we would ""make an issue"" out of it, if any of the other candidates opted out of public financing-which he just did.
This move will only increase the influence corporations have on him. Even before he opted out, three of the top ten contributors to his campaign were from AOL/Time Warner, Microsoft and IBM.
This all comes from the same guy who says he is from the ""democratic wing of the Democratic party,"" yet he supports the death penalty, won't cut the Pentagon budget, has opted out of public financing, signed the Vermont Civil Union Bill in private, has talked about raising the social security retirement age... and talks about his support for the environment, but readily admits he owns two SUV's himself.
I don't trust a word the guy says.
