Violence marked the last day of summer vacation in the 1000 block of College Court Monday, where police response to a disturbance resulted in an injured suspect.
Yasin A. Mohamed, 23, of Madison fled from police when they responded to a disturbance on College Court at about 10 p.m., according to police reports.
Mohamed ran as one officer pursued him on foot and another tried to block his path with the squad car. According to police reports, Mohamed slipped and fell underneath the car's rear tire as the car was still moving. The tire ran over his leg.
He was transported to UW Hospital and treated for his injuries. He remained in good condition Tuesday evening, according to a hospital spokesperson. Mohamed is not listed in the UW-Madison student directory.
Madison Police Department Public Information Officer Larry Kamholtz said the incident Monday did not indicate an increase in violent activity in the student residence area.
\It's mostly disturbances and loud music down there [we respond to],"" Kamholtz said.
Police are still investigating the incident and no charges have been issued as of now. A preliminary investigation by the department showed the officer involved did not violate any policies.
