Timikca Widener was sentenced to one year in the Dane County Jail Aug. 28 for stabbing former UW-Madison football player Russ Kuhns.

The incident occurred in Kuhns' home last March when Widener and Morena Taylor-Benell requested he pay money he owed to Taylor-Benell's cousin, according to a criminal complaint. Following the demand, Taylor-Benell allegedly hit Kuhns with a shoe and Widener took a knife to his abdomen.

Weekend activities are now at UW-Madison students' fingertips with a new hotline and Web link that list recreational options at the Wisconsin Union and other places in the campus area.

To create the new system, titled Fashionably Late, the Wisconsin Union marketing department teamed up with the Division of Information Technology and UW-Madison's former Journalism 449 class.

The class conducted studies to find types of activities students prefer. They devised the system as a more effective form of outreach to provide valuable information for students.

The hotline portion of Fashionably Late will run every Thursday, Friday and Saturday from 9 p.m. to 2 a.m.

The hotline phone number is (608) 265-0505 and the Web site link is http://www.union.wisc.edu.

President Bush's approval rating among Wisconsin residents has dropped 10 points since May, according to the latest Badger Poll conducted by the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel and The Capital Times.

The poll, released Wednesday, showed an approval rating barely above 50 percent, down from 52 percent in May.

Fewer Wisconsin residents rated the war in Iraq a complete success, according to the poll.

Bush's decline in popularity was attributed to the poor economy and prolonged conflict in Iraq.

The poll showed an anti-Bush trend among women and voters over the age of 45. Both groups showed dissatisfaction with the war.
