If we learned anything from Saturday's game against UNLV, (besides the fact that just when you think you've reached your maximum level of coldness and wetness, it can get worse) it is that we are in need for some divine intervention. So, I take it upon myself to look for a little help, because a team whose leading rusher has a bum ankle, whose quarterback threw two interceptions, was sacked eight times and overthrew eight receivers, not to mention whose offensive plan that couldn't get the ball into Lee Evans' hands, needs some help.
Dear God,
Yeah, I know, it's me again. And I know I've been asking for a lot. There was the help I asked for when I lost my phone for the billionth time-it was in the bathroom at Camp Randall. The plea when I hadn't studied for my economics exam last year... didn't do too shabby on it by the way. And I know I said some bad things after having stood in the rain on Saturday, but I didn't really mean those either. But this one I really need, even more than the car I asked for. What I'm looking for is a little bit of angels in the end zone.
Now, I realize you're not like Santa. I did, after all, go to a Catholic school for nine years, but I also have watched \Angels in the Outfield"" about a dozen times, so I know you can pull a few strings. Now it's not like the only way my dad will come back for me is if the Angels win the pennant, but things are looking a little grim here.
So here's what we need. Excuse me while I pull out my list... all right, here I go:
1. Anthony Davis at full strength. Saturday's game showed that the heart of the Badger offense is in Davis and that without him, the Badgers are in a heap of trouble. His replacements, sophomore Dwayne Smith and freshman Booker Stanley, are good, but can't yet compare to a 1,000-yard rusher.
2. A little bit of divine assistance for Jim Sorgi. I liken it to Christopher Lloyd helping out Tony Danza. Sorgi needs a good game against North Carolina before going on the road to start the Big Ten season against Illinois. Remember when the angel helped guide the ball when Danza threw it? Well, that would be super cool here.
3. And while you're giving Sorgi some assistance, can we work on getting Evans the ball? If anyone's ever going to think about him for the Heisman, much less allowing him to live up to the potential we've all been waiting for since his injury, he's got to be open because 58 yards receiving ain't going to cut it.
Thanks for your consideration,
Kate.
No response yet, but I'm checking my e-mail on an hourly basis. So when you're at the game Saturday, keep an eye out for Christopher Lloyd. We might need him.
