Brant Thundercloud, the UW-Madison freshman who allegedly stabbed another student in Sellery Hall over the weekend, was released from jail Tuesday after his arraignment hearing under the stipulation that he not have any contact with the stabbing victim and that he not possess any weapons, drugs or alcohol.
Thundercloud's preliminary hearing is scheduled for Oct. 8 at 1:30 p.m.
According to the criminal complaint, Thundercloud got into an argument with UW-Madison freshmen, Christopher T. Boll and Andrew C. Woolley in an elevator in the A Tower of Sellery Hall after midnight Sept. 13. Thundercloud threatened to meet Boll and Woolley on the 9th floor, according to the complaint. Thundercloud exited on the 9th floor and the three argued more. At one point Boll threw Thundercloud to the ground. Boll said he did not notice when Thundercloud took out a knife or at what point he was stabbed.
UW Police Officer Marshall Ogren was dispatched to Sellery at about 12:59 a.m. He found Boll with a two-inch cut in his left bicep.
Thundercloud faces penalties and fines of up to $10,000 and up to three years and six months in prison.
