According to a survey done by The Chronicle of Higher Education, UW-Madison was ranked second highest for campus arrests relating to liquor-law violations and third highest for drug arrests in 2001.
Arrests for drug-related incidences on nationwide campuses rose by 5.5 percent in 2001, while liquor arrests increased by 4.7 percent.
UW-Madison made more than 130 arrests while reporting more than 400 drinking-related arrests.

Officials said the data is a reflection of the population of campuses, enrolling more than 30,000 students.
The figures are based on an analysis of data from 4,711 colleges which are eligible for federal financial aid. The statistics were compiled by the U.S. Education Department in 2001.
