UW-Madison Chancellor John Wiley announced his support Friday for a 150-megawatt power plant on the west side of campus.
Wiley recommended that the state include the plan for the West Campus Cogeneration Facility in the 2003-'05 capital budget. The plan calls for a power plant on the 600 block of Walnut Street that would be built as a partnership between UW-Madison and Madison Gas and Electric.
The power plant has been somewhat controversial in recent months with area residents citing environmental concerns about the project.
