The NCAA plans to adopt more strict eligibility codes for college athletes.
High school athletes must complete more required courses to be eligible to compete in college. NCAA President Myles Brand said he thinks codes should not be implemented for five years so athletes can prepare for the change. The NCAA has tentative plans to give colleges $17 million to distribute to high school athletes to ease their transition to college.
