The Marquette Golden Eagles defeated the Pittsburgh Panthers 77-74 in the Midwest regional semi-finals in Minneapolis Thursday night.
For the victors junior guard Dwayne Wade contributed 22 points, 20 of which came in the second half.
This is Marquette's first trip to the Elite Eight since winning the NCAA tournament in 1977.

Marquette will face the Kentucky Wildcats Saturday after Kentucky disposed of the University of Wisconsin earlier in the evening, 63-57.
For Pittsburgh, senior guard Brandin Knight contributed 16 points in his last game as a Panther. To Pitt's credit the squad rallied late in the second half however, it was too much Marquette in the end.
