The only statewide primary narrowed the state Supreme Court race down to Pat Roggensack, a Wisconsin Court of Appeals judge, and Ed Brunner, a Barron County Circuit judge, beating out Paul Higginbotham, a Dane County Circuit judge.
Brunner's campaign manager, Christina Lien, said they were very pleased with the outcome of the election, especially since Brunner was the only candidate to refuse special-interest money.
\It is essential that the Supreme Court be above reproach on issues of independence and impartiality,"" she said.
Although Higginbotham said he was disappointed, he said he was happy with the support his campaign received.
""Of course I'm sorry that we lost because we were experiencing a lot of momentum with the campaign,"" he said.
Roggensack could not be reached for comment.
Roggensack carried 39 percent of the vote with Brunner taking 33 percent and Higginbotham receiving 28 percent.
