A Federal judge dismissed a lawsuit on Wednesday alleging food from McDonald's is responsible for making people obese.
The suit was originally filed in August by the parents of two teenage girls that claimed McDonald's failed to clearly disclose nutritional information about the food. They argued that McDonald's should be held liable for the girls' obesity, heart disease, diabetes, high blood pressure and elevated cholesterol.
The attorneys for McDonald's claimed it was impossible to determine whether McDonald's food was responsible for the poor health of the girls. Both girls said McDonald's food had been regular meals in their diet.
The prevailing judge, Robert Sweet, gave the plaintiffs the option of filing an amended complaint within 30 days to address the problems Sweet found with their original complaint. The plaintiffs' attorney said they intend to amend their complaint and resubmit it to federal court.
