Oh, Yvette. How misguided... how socially irresponsible people can be. I mean, truly, an issue that is dividing an entire nation can certainly be summed up by hurling a few stereotypes and a little bit of artistic talent into a newspaper. To paint the pro-choice movement, and frankly, the pro-life movement, with such a callous attitude goes far beyond the realm of responsibility to The Daily Cardinal's constituents. It's more than that, but I assume that as you sat in your room and drew your pompous little cartoon you failed to consider your ignorance. Perhaps you also failed to consider the overwhelming amount of emotion that people invest in this issue and your transparent emotional vacancy.
I take my rights seriously and as they rapidly diminish, I am forced to take notice of those that do not take me seriously. Unfortunately for you, the movement that you've managed to so brilliantly encompass is a movement that is far more complicated than people like you would like to believe. You have rights, Yvette. We all do for the time being, but once the government begins the era of limiting those rights, and limiting women, they will not stop. Once Roe v. Wade is overturned, once birth control is eliminated, and once the intellectually inept (you would understand that side) gets control of our country... those rights that you fail to acknowledge will cease to exist. At the moment, you are comfortable in your position. Certainly comfortable enough to undermine both sides of the argument. The bottom line, however, eludes you. No matter, I will explain.
When the exhaustion of activism takes over, I am forced, along with others, to find inspiration and to remember what it is that we are fighting for. Your ignorance propels me and your casually obtuse cartoon, that struggles to do anything but insult and disgust, will provide ample motivation for weeks to come.
