Police investigate Dayton St. hit-and-run incident

Police were called to the State Street Campus Ramp near the 100 block of West Dayton Street early Sunday at 2:12 a.m to investigate a hit and run accident.

According to the police report, a pedestrian was hit by a green four-door vehicle while attempting to cross West Dayton Street near State Street. Witnesses said the car struck the pedestrian, then came to a stop on top of the victim. After bystanders yelled at the driver, he backed up and rolled over the pedestrian again.

The vehicle left the scene and according to police was last seen heading west on the Beltline Highway near Whitney Way.
