Out-of-staters decrease at UW

UW System enrollment figures show there are 12.68 percent less out-of-state students in this year's freshman class than in previous classes. This may be due to last year's tuition increases leading undergraduate out-of-state students to pay four times as much as in-state students.

Effective this year, nonresident tuition rose 13 percent and resident tuition increased 8 percent effective this school year.

UW-Madison had an 11 percent drop in out-of-state enrollment. The remainder of the UW System campuses experienced a 16 percent drop.
