The University of Wisconsin women's soccer team defeated Michigan State 1-0 Thursday night in the first round of the Big Ten Tournament in East Lansing, Mich.
Sophomore forward Amy Vermeulen scored the only goal of the match at 52:13 and junior midfielder Jenny Kundert and senior forward Jessica Wolff had the assists. Senior goaltender Kelly Conway grabbed four saves in the contest.
The Badgers, who won their fourth straight game against Michigan State, are scheduled to face Illinois Friday at 5:30 in the semifinals.
