University of Wisconsin standout senior wide receiver Lee Evans admitted to the Ridgeway police that the marijuana was his, according to The Capital Times report Thursday. Evans was charged Wednesday with possession of marijuana in addition to a citation for speeding.
Detailed in police reports obtained by The Capital Times, officers found a bag of marijuana and \two blunts"" (cigars filled with marijuana) after a routine traffic stop. Evans was driving in Iowa County at the time of the Nov. 1 arrest.
In the car with Evans at the time of the arrest were senior linebacker Jeff Mack, redshirt freshman quarterback Devin Hollins and redshirt freshman defensive back Johnny Sylvain. They were not charged.
As reported by the Capital Times, Evans initially consented to a search of the car, but changed his mind when the officers ordered the passengers out of the car. After an officer talked about getting a drug-sniffing dog, Evans agreed to the search.
Evans will not play this season due to a knee injury he suffered last spring. He recorded 1,545 receiving yards and 75 catches last season as a Badger.
