It was a closer race for Dane County district attorney than many expected, but Republican candidate Rick Raemisch finally conceded defeat to incumbent Democrat Brian Blanchard.
\It's been a good fight and life goes on,"" Raemisch said, after garnering 46 percent of the vote, eight less than Blanchard. ""We fought hard, it was a good fight and I wouldn't change a thing, except [to] win.""
Raemisch, who is the former Dane County Sheriff, said he had not ruled out running again in the future.
""I never say never, but right now I want to spend time with my family and make up for lost time,"" he said.
Blanchard is best known around the county and state for his investigation into the caucus case involving the use of state workers on political campaigns, while they were still being paid on state time.
""I think voters had a chance to look at the term and I think we will have another good term,"" he said. ""[I will] continue to work steadily on the caucus investigation to shorten the time so victims can be served quickly.""
