Badger Bits

The men's soccer team saw success this weekend in its final match at home. The men's soccer team (3-3-0 Big Ten, 9-8-0 overall) opened with a 1-0 shutout over Northwestern (0-5-0, 8-10-0). Freshman forward Phil Doeh notched the winning goal in the last minute; Doeh scored his goal off an assist from sophomore midfielder Noah Goerlitz with just four minutes left in the Badgers' home soccer finale. They will face Marquette on the road before the Big Ten Tournament Nov. 14-17.

The men played a tough Northwestern defense that held them scoreless for the first 85 minutes of play prior to Doeh's sixth goal of the season. The Badgers outshot Northwestern 21-7. Junior goaltender Eric Hanson tabbed five saves while Wildcat senior goaltender J.D. Martin got six.
