Two UW-Madison students were arrested Friday morning, accused of being in a false identification ring.
UW-Madison sophomores Adrian Johnson and Marcus Hill were arrested on felony charges.
According to a news release, UW Police have been investigating the operation since March for making and selling the fake IDs on campus. Detectives worked with the Deputy District Attorney to develop a case linking the suspects with many false driver's licenses used to illegally purchase alcohol in the campus area.
The investigation also found drug activity and firearms.
The two students were arrested in their homes on North Frances and West Johnson Streets by UW Police, with assistance from the Madison Police Emergency Response Team and the Dane County Narcotics and Gang Task Force. Equipment to make fake IDs, drugs, a gun and other items were also taken by police.
UW Police plan to continue their investigation of the case.
