McCallum, the Republican gubernatorial candidate, said Doyle's proposed budget plans raises the state's income taxes.
Doyle, the Democratic candidate for governor, said McCallum wasted state tobacco settlement funds.

Both candidates were asked to respond to a Metropolitan Milwaukee Association of Commerce economic blueprint for the area. Both said education was the groundwork for a good economic future.
McCallum said he favored focusing on the school choice program, while Doyle proposed funneling more money to inner city schools.
