The Multicultural Student Coalition announced its budget request for the 2003-'04 school year Friday. After requesting nearly a million dollars last year and receiving $555,467, the group is proposing a budget of $515,009.16 for next year.
\Last year, a lot of our major expenses were one-time expenses,"" said Theresa Vidaurri, a UW-Madison senior and chair of MCSC. She cited rent as one example, noting the requested amount has dropped from $111,313 to $71,000.
MCSC is requesting more executive staff this year, hoping to upgrade from two members to five.
Carl Camacho, a UW-Madison senior and MCSC member, cited the group's size as the reason for the upgrade.
""This project is too big for just two people to be responsible for it,"" he said.
