Just a few months after taking the job, UW-Madison Dean of Students Alicia Chavez resigned from her position, saying she wished to return to the faculty and her private lifestyle.
Citing the high stress of the post, Chavez also said she disliked the loss of anonymity that came with being dean of students.
\I can't even walk into a grocery store without someone saying, 'Dean Chavez, why haven't you done anything about this?'"" she said at the time.
Although she originally planned to stay through the spring semester, Chavez later said her resignation would begin immediately.
Roger Howard, a former associate dean of students, became interim dean Jan. 28.
Chavez will begin teaching in the Department of Educational Administration as an assistant professor in the fall.
A dean of students search committee is in the process of finding a replacement.
