Milwaukee Mayor John Norquist is negotiating plans to pay part of the settlement in a sexual harassment case, the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel reported.
Former mayoral aid Marilyn Figueroa first filed complaints of sexual harassment and racial discrimination in December 2000.
The mayor will meet today with city attorney Grant Langley and may pay part of the $350,000 to settle the claim. The remainder of the claim will have to be paid by Milwaukee taxpayers.
\There will be discussions about a substantial contribution,"" Lester Pines, Norquist's attorney, told the Journal Sentinel. ""It will not be a total contribution, because he is not in a position to pay the entire amount. That is out of the question.""
It is still not clear whether the scandal will have a serious effect on Norquist's political career.
A hearing is scheduled for May 6.
