Woman sexually assaulted near Lake Street ramp

A woman was sexually assaulted Saturday morning near the parking ramp at the Lake at Frances streets according to a report from the Madison Police Department.

The man who attacked the woman when she walked into an alley was scared off by another person and is described as white, bald and in his 30s.

According to a UW-Madison senior who heard the events from her nearby home in Hawthorne Court, the assault lasted between 10 and 15 seconds.

\This girl started screaming a couple of times."" she said. ""It took a few seconds to realize she was screaming for real, like she was scared or in pain. She was yelling 'stop,' but it was muffled, like he was covering her mouth.""

Though no description of the assault was given in the report, MPD Sgt. Ann Leheny said sexual assault encompasses a large range of actions.

""Sexual assault involves any touching in an unwanted manner,"" she said.
