Madison resident Tom Griffen is going to the Olympics, and he's going to get paid for it.
The Madison transit operator will take a three week vacation from his usual bus route and get a change of scenery when he drives at the Winter Games from Feb. 4 to 24.
Griffen said he was looking forward to the opportunity to see some of the winter events while doing his job.
\I am leaning towards working the mountain venues,"" Griffen said. ""You'll get to see more driving up and down for the mountain events rather than just making a constant loop through areas crowded with people.""
The Olympic Committee, which recruited Griffen at a national bus driving contest in San Francisco two years ago, will pay for his wage, airfare and room and board while he stays in Salt Lake City.
