McCallum concerned with Senate budget delay

State Senate Majority Leader Chuck Chvala, D-Madison, and Gov. Scott McCallum exchanged letters Tuesday concerning the governor's concern that the Senate has delayed introduction of his budget-reform act.

\To date, there has been no legislative action to close the budget deficit,"" McCallum said in his letter. ""I ask that you convene the Senate Committee on Organization at the earliest possible opportunity.""

McCallum also sent a similar letter to Assembly Speaker Scott Jensen, R-Waukesha.

Chvala disagreed it was the Senate's responsibility to introduce the bill.

""I again suggest you work with Speaker Jensen regarding introduction of your budget plan in the Assembly and seek to develop support for your plan among your fellow Republicans.""
