Man struck by car, suffers minor injuries

A Madison man was hit by a car crossing West Johnson Street Thursday. 

 

 

 

Madison Police Sgt. Chuck Weiss said according to witness accounts, a man who appeared to be in his mid-30s left Vilas Hall and attempted to cross Johnson Street against the traffic lights and into oncoming traffic where it intersects Park Street. 

 

 

 

\Two lanes of traffic stopped,"" Weiss said, adding that as the man ""stumbled"" into the third lane, outside of Ogg Hall, the driver of the approaching car was unable to see the man soon enough to stop.

""We're lucky more accidents don't happen here,"" Weiss added. 

 

 

 

According to Weiss, the man seemed to be intoxicated and appeared to have suffered minor injuries as a result of the accident. 

 

 

 

Though the man was able to stand and refused an ambulance, Madison Police called for medical assistance.
